Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender is a scent everyone thinks they know, but its complexity is often underestimated. Depending on the soil and climate, it can be sweet and floral, or sharp and camphoraceous. We use high-altitude Lavandula Angustifolia, which carries a soft, herbaceous, and deeply calming aroma, not a sharp, medicinal one.

Beyond its famous aromatherapeutic properties, lavender is a workhorse for the skin. It's one of the few essential oils gentle enough for most people. Its soothing properties help calm redness and irritation, making it a go-to for everything from facial serums to bath soaks for sensitive skin.

We source our lavender from two primary regions: the fields of Oregon and the traditional growing regions of Provence, France. The Oregon lavender often has a slightly brighter, greener note, while the French variety is classically floral and deep. Both are steam-distilled from fresh flowers to capture the purest expression of the plant.

In the workshop, we blend it into our soaps not just for its aroma, but because its properties carry through the saponification process. It anchors our sleep-focused blends and provides a gentle, effective touch in our balms and salves. Itโ€™s an honest, hard-working botanical that earns its place in every bottle.
