Organic White Thyme Essential Oil
Thyme is one of the most historically important and potent purifying herbs. The essential oil is incredibly powerful, with a sharp, herbaceous, and medicinal aroma. There are two main types: Red Thyme, the crude distillate, and White Thyme, which is what we use.
We exclusively use White Thyme because it has been redistilled, or 'rectified'. This second distillation process removes some of the harsher phenolic compounds that can be very irritating to the skin. The result is an oil that retains its powerful purifying properties but is significantly gentler and safer for use in skincare. It's a perfect example of using smart science to refine a natural ingredient.
In our products, we use White Thyme in very small, precise amounts in our most heavy-duty cleansing formulas. It is fantastic for deep cleaning congested skin or for use in purifying foot soaks. Aromatically, its strong, healthy scent is wonderful for cleansing the air during cold and flu season.
