Tangerine Essential Oil

Tangerine essential oil is the gentle sibling in the citrus family. Cold-pressed from the bright orange peels of ripe tangerines, it delivers the sunny, mood-lifting properties you expect from citrus with a sweeter, softer character that calms as it energizes.

Where lemon cuts and grapefruit invigorates, tangerine comforts. Its scent is warm, almost honeyed, with none of the sharp edges that can make other citrus oils feel aggressive. This makes it particularly well-suited for blends designed to ease stress and anxiety without sedation. You feel lifted but not wired. Calm but not sleepy. It's the balance point in the citrus spectrum.

Traditionally, tangerine oil has been used to soothe restless children, ease digestive discomfort, and promote a sense of security. In aromatherapy, it's prized for its ability to ease nervous tension while still promoting a positive, optimistic outlook. The high limonene content provides antioxidant benefits for skin while supporting overall mood.

We use tangerine as a key note in our Uplifting Stress Relief Body Oil, where it joins bergamot, pink grapefruit, and lemon in a citrus quartet designed to lift heavy moods. Tangerine brings the comfort. The other citrus oils bring clarity and energy. Roman chamomile and clary sage round out the blend to keep the lift from becoming agitation. It's sunshine in a bottle, and tangerine is what makes that sunshine feel warm rather than harsh.

For home use, add a few drops of tangerine to your diffuser during the afternoon slump or when the house feels heavy. It clears the air without the sharpness of lemon or the intensity of orange. Kids especially respond well to it. There's a reason it's been the go-to children's citrus oil for generations.
