Olive Oil
Olive oil is where soapmaking began. For centuries, it was the primary fat used to create the original Castile soap, known for its incredible gentleness. When we use olive oil, we're tapping into that history. It forms the base of many of our recipes because it creates a uniquely mild and conditioning bar that respects the skin's natural balance.
Soap made with a high percentage of olive oil is different. The lather isn't big and bubbly; it's low, creamy, and lotion-like. The bar itself starts soft and cures over time to become incredibly hard and long-lasting. This slow-curing process is essential, allowing the soap to mellow and become even gentler.
We use two main grades. For our classic soaps, we use a high-quality refined olive oil for its moisturizing benefits without a strong scent. For specialty products like infusions, we select an organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Its deep green color is a sign of its rich antioxidant and polyphenol content, which we want to deliver directly to your skin.
Our olive oil is sourced from traditional groves in Italy, Spain, or Argentina, depending on the harvest. We look for a high oleic acid content, which gives the oil its signature moisturizing feel. This isn't cooking oil; it's a specific grade chosen for its performance and skin-loving properties.
