Beeswax is one of nature's most perfect ingredients. It's the beautiful, structural material that bees create to build their honeycombs. When we get it in the workshop, it has a wonderfully subtle, sweet scent of honey and flowers. It provides the firm, solid texture that is the backbone of our salves, balms, and solid lotion bars.

Its primary function is to act as a protective barrier on the skin. Unlike petroleum jelly, which forms a completely occlusive seal, beeswax creates a breathable layer. This barrier helps to lock in the skin's own moisture and protect it from the elements, like wind and cold, without clogging pores.

Beeswax is also a natural humectant, meaning it attracts water molecules, helping to keep the skin hydrated. It's a wonderfully conditioning and softening ingredient that provides a tangible feeling of long-lasting protection and care. It's a simple, timeless ingredient that just works.

We are proud to source our organic beeswax from local beekeepers right here in Oregon. Supporting our local agricultural community while using a superior, minimally-processed ingredient is a perfect reflection of our values. It's a direct connection to the hard work of our local pollinators.
